Amarillo earns 2 Government Finance Officers Association awards for accounting, financial reporting

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The City of Amarillo announced it earned two awards from the Government Finance Officers Association for governmental accounting and financial reporting, after its financial reporting for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2024.

Amarillo was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2024, as well as the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award for that same period.

City of Amarillo receives AAA long-term credit rating from S&P Global Ratings

According to Amarillo officials, the ACFR provides a detailed look at the city’s financial performance, including assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures. The Certificate of Achievement for the ACFR is recognized as the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Amarillo has now received the award 49 times.

The city has received the PAFR award 14 times, according to officials. The PAFR is an online document highlighting city financial data and departments in a convenient format for the public, and is reviewed by judges based on several categories, including reader appeal, understandability, distribution and creativity.
