AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The City of Amarillo is preparing for its annual Point-in-Time Count, a community effort with a goal of measuring homelessness across Amarillo and guiding local services.
The 2026 PIT Count will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 23, led by the city’s Community Development Department in partnership with the Amarillo Continuum of Care.

City officials said the PIT Count is a 24-hour snapshot of individuals experiencing homelessness in Amarillo. Volunteers conduct in-person interviews and observations throughout the city to help gather data on the number of people without stable housing.
