Man who allegedly plan 4th of July attack in Canyon found competent to stand trial

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — A man who was accused of planning an attack during a July 4 parade in Canyon was found to be competent to stand trial following a psychological evaluation.

On Jan. 7, Kevin Hunt was ruled competent to stand trial after undergoing a psychological evaluation.

As was previously reported by Myhighplains.com, Hunt was indicted in federal court in September on a charge of alleged “Attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction,” and indicted in Randall County in October on other charges of alleged possession of “Components of explosives,” “Attempted capital murder of multiple persons,” and “Terrorism.”

Hunt was discharged from the facility where he was held for the evaluation and taken into custody by the United States Marshal…
