Amarillo Symphony celebrates 20th anniversary of Globe-News Center of the Performing Arts

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Symphony will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Globe-News Center of the Performing Arts on Jan. 16 and 17.

According to officials with the Amarillo Symphony, the symphony will have two special concerts featuring a world-premiere fanfare commissioned for the anniversary on Jan. 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. Officials added that works by Rodrigo and Bruckner will also be featured.

The anniversary concerts will showcase three works, including:

  • A world-premiere fanfare by award-winning British composer Gavin Higgins, commissioned specifically for the Globe-News Center’s 20th anniversary
  • Rodrigo’s passionate Concierto de Aranjuez, featuring the electrifying guitarist JIJI
  • Bruckner’s majestic Symphony No. 7

Officials added that a Lunch and Listen with Maestro George Jackson and guitarist JIJI will also be available by contacting the Symphony office at 806-376-8782 for reservations. Tickets for the anniversary concerts are available online at the Amarillo Symphony website.
