Potter County warns the public of outstanding warrants scam

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Potter County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a recent over-the-phone scam, requesting payment for outstanding warrants, has been reported by several residents.

According to PCSO, residents are receiving a call from someone claiming to be Lt. Langwell or Lt. Brown with the Sheriff’s Office. Officials said that although Lt. Langwell and Lt. Brown are real employees, PCSO stated that it will never request money over the phone.

The PCSO asks the public to remain alert to this ongoing scam and to call the office at 806-379-2900 if they receive any suspicious calls or if they wish to verify information about a case or officer.
