Potter County votes 4–0 to advance tax framework for $4B solar project

Potter County commissioners voted 4-0 Monday, Jan. 12 to create a new reinvestment zone and move forward with a proposed tax incentive agreement for a massive solar-and-battery development north of Amarillo that developers say could represent up to $4 billion in investment across Potter and Carson counties.

County Judge Nancy Tanner was not present for the vote.

The Potter County Commissioners Court approved the designation of Reinvestment Zone No. 2, a step required under Texas Tax Code Chapter 312 before the county can offer a property tax abatement on new development.
