AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Bitterly cold air and the threat of heavy snow will continue to impact the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles through the weekend, creating dangerous conditions for travel and prolonged exposure outdoors.
Temperatures across the region are in the single digits as of Saturday afternoon and are expected to remain there for the rest of the day. Wind chill values will stay below zero for at least the next 24 hours, occasionally dropping as low as 20 degrees below zero.
With these conditions, frostbite and hypothermia can develop in as little as 30 minutes for anyone not properly dressed.
Snow will continue to fall intermittently across the southern Texas Panhandle this afternoon, but forecasters say the main band of moderate to heavy snow is not expected to settle over the region until Saturday night…
