The United Family donated 5,000 pairs of socks to six charitable organizations across Texas throughout February through its seventh annual Apples & Pears on a Mission partnership with Rainier Fruit, the Lubbock-based retailer announced.
United Supermarkets donated 1,000 pairs of socks to the Salvation Army of Lubbock on Feb. 6 and 1,000 pairs to the Salvation Army of Abilene on Feb. 17.
Additional donations went to the Salvation Army locations in Amarillo, Midland and Odessa, and Faith Mission of Wichita Falls. The donations follow a 1,000-pair donation to the Salvation Army of Amarillo on Jan. 30.
Throughout the fall and winter months of 2025, a portion of the proceeds from purchasing Rainier Fruit pears and apples went toward buying brand-new socks to donate to organizations supporting the homeless community…
