Canyon ISD uses savings to add three-point seat belts to 59 buses, cites deficit budget

CANYON, Texas (KVII) — A new Texas law is changing the way school districts address student transportation safety, requiring school buses across the state to be equipped with three-point seat belts.

When Canyon Independent School District (CISD) began researching the cost of complying with the mandate, officials found it would cost approximately $32,000 per bus.
