AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Dumas Police Department is welcoming a new chief of police, Daniel Franklin.
According to officials with the Dumas Police Department, Franklin began his career in 1998 after graduating from the East Texas Police Department, where he then served for more than 20 years with the Jacksonville Police Department. Franklin held numerous roles, including Patrol Officer, Criminal Investigator, Sergeant, Captain, and Assistant Chief at the Jacksonville Police Department.
Officials added that Franklin also served as Range Master, Firearms Instructor, FTO Coordinator, Lead Instructor, and SWAT Commander, and was recognized as Officer of the Year in both 2001 and 2003.

The Dumas Police Department noted that Franklin holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences and a Master of Arts from Midwestern State University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #271. Franklin retired from Jacksonville in 2018 and continued his service in law enforcement as Captain and later Chief of Police at Willow Park Police Department before serving with the Central Texas College Police Department…
