Texas House District 87 Rep. Caroline Fairly launches new program

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Representative Caroline Fairly announced the launch of the inaugural Panhandle Student Leadership Program. According to Fairly’s team, the program is an immersive educational experience designed to inspire the next generation of civic leaders in House District 87.

“How this will work is we partnered with our ISDs here in District 87, and seventh and eighth graders will come up with a bill idea, any bill idea, and write an essay about it. And then our teachers will pick the top students. Those top students, we will bring them to Austin,” explained Rep. Fairly.

According to Fairly’s team, select seventh and eighth-grade Texas history students from across the district will come to Austin for a firsthand look at state government in action at the Texas Capitol.
