Armstrong County grass fire prompts evacuation at data center

First responders were working to contain a new grass fire that sparked in Armstrong County near a data center site on Wednesday, March 18 in the Texas Panhandle.

The Texas A&M Forest Service said as of Thursday morning, the Bright Lights Fire was an estimated 300 acres and sits at 70% contained near Mulberry Creek, south of Malden.

Houses, data center evacuated as precaution

The Forest Service said the fire burned in rough canyon topography, making access difficult. There were evacuations in the area of five homes and the AI data center, but all structures were saved and evacuations lifted.
