Two men passing through Amarillo with nearly half a million dollars’ worth of methamphetamine have been convicted for their roles in conspiring to distribute the massive amount of narcotics.
California Native Driving Through Texas
33-year-old Cameron Nesbitt, a California native, was charged by a grand jury in August 2025 for conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. This came after a traffic stop revealed nearly 100 pounds of meth in his rental car as he was attempting to pass through Oldham County, just west of Amarillo in the panhandle.
Nesbitt was the passenger in the rental car while Johian Scott, 34, was in the driver’s seat.
There were a total of four red flags during the traffic stop that alerted responding officers:
- Both men were noticeably very nervous
- The vehicle was rented by a third party out of Lancaster, California
- The vehicle had the appearance of being lived in, as energy drink cans were scattered all over the floor
- Both Scott and Nesbitt gave conflicting stories as to why they were traveling from California through Texas
They Tried to Hide the Drugs, But Failed
Officers who conducted the traffic stop then had a canine scan the vehicle, and this is where the two men’s secret was finally revealed…
