AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Potter County Tax Office is alerting customers of a scam that is targeting drivers through text messages.
According to officials, the Tax Office was made aware of a text message that is being sent to residents claiming that their vehicle tags are past due and their “driving privileges” will be revoked.

Officials said the text message is a scam and was not sent by Potter County.
“Our taxpayers should remain vigilant to ensure they don’t end up the victim of another text scam. Our office will not send text messages demanding payment of past due vehicle registration fees, nor does our office have the authority to revoke driving privileges because someone did not pay their registration fee,” said Potter County Tax Assessor-Collector Thomas Warren…
