Strong cold front barreling toward Texas to drop temperatures up to 60 degrees

It may feel pretty hot across Texas now, with afternoon highs soaring into the 90s. But a strong cold front sweeping the state this weekend is going to bring a major cool down, with some areas seeing a whopping 60-degree drop overnight.

The Texas Panhandle will be the first to feel the impacts of this arctic burst barreling toward the Lone Star State. Between Thursday afternoon and evening, March 26, a shivering 60-degree drop is in the tea leaves for Dalhart. After 96-degree afternoon, nighttime lows will sink to a shivering 36 degrees.

By Friday night, thermometers may even dip into freezing territory at 32 degrees. For the most part, afternoons will be sunny but windy, as wind gusts could reach 30 to 40 mph, with highs in the mid-50s on Friday. But it won’t last long, as temperatures begin to climb slowly through the weekend, hitting 85 degrees by Sunday…
