🚧 Amarillo to Remove Non-Compliant Crosswalk Markings Starting March 28

Starting Saturday, March 28, the City of Amarillo will begin removing and replacing crosswalk and pavement markings that don’t meet new TxDOT safety standards. The work follows a statewide directive to ensure all roadway markings comply with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD).

Decorative or non-standard markings will be replaced at several locations, including near San Jacinto Elementary (S.W. Third Ave. & S. Carolina St.), Margaret Wills Elementary (Belleview St. & Line Ave.), and multiple intersections in the North Heights area. Additional removals will occur near the Amarillo Police Department and the 400 block of S.E. Sixth St.
