A rapidly moving wildfire in the Texas Panhandle has destroyed homes, forced closures and burned roughly 14,000 acres as dangerous fire conditions continue across the region.
The Texas A&M Forest Service said the Hungate Fire was 40% contained as of its 10 p.m. Friday, May 15 update. The ongoing conditions also prompted the closure of Palo Duro Canyon State Park, according to Texas Parks & Wildlife.
