Jury Awards Over $10M to Parents of Man Shot to Death by LASD Deputy

A federal jury has awarded more than $10 million to the parents of a Long Beach man fatally shot by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy after a traffic stop in Castaic five years ago, it was announced Friday.

The jury in downtown Los Angeles rendered its verdict Wednesday for plaintiffs Tina Setterberg and Raul Sanchez Jr., finding that Deputy Kenneth Borbon violated the civil rights of Adrian Sanchez when he was shot and killed on Aug. 11, 2021.
