A 61-year-old mother traveled across the country to California to see her adult son, who ended up “bludgeoning” her to death with a hammer inside his Laguna Beach home, prosecutors say.

Safford Wolfson, 36, is facing a felony count of murder and a felony enhancement of personally using a deadly weapon — the hammer — in connection with the death of his mother, Angela Caprioli, last week in Orange County.

On Monday, local prosecutors announced in a press release that Wolfson had been formally charged and was being held in lieu of $1 million bail…
