Heat Wave Intensifies Across Southland

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A dangerous heat wave intensified across the Southland Friday, pushing temperatures into the triple digits in many inland communities.

By midafternoon Friday, temperatures had reached 103 degrees in Acton, 102 in Lancaster, 100 in Palmdale, 99 in Van Nuys and Corona, 96 in Burbank, 95 in Pomona, 89 in Fullerton and 88 in downtown Los Angeles, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said “temperatures will … be dangerously hot, especially away from the immediate coast, with highs 5-10 degrees above normal.”…
