Pasadena man arrested after $1,000 Sephora theft in Irvine

An intense multi-agency surveillance operation concluded with the arrest of a Pasadena resident accused of grand theft and burglary at an Irvine Sephora location. The suspect, identified as Brayan David Linares Ovalle, 20, of Pasadena, was caught on security footage inside an Irvine Sephora store concealing more than $1,000 worth of beauty products inside a cardboard box. Following the initial theft, the Irvine Police Department issued a public appeal requesting community assistance to help identify the individual pictured in surveillance footage wearing a black Manchester United soccer jersey.

The breakthrough in the case came when investigators received a tip indicating that Linares Ovalle was actively attempting to sell the stolen cosmetics and fragrances in Montebello. Detectives from the Irvine Police Department’s Crime Impact Unit initiated an undercover surveillance operation in the area.
