Execution killing in O.C. tied to Mexican mafia leads to 3 life sentences

Three Orange County gang members were sentenced Wednesday to life in federal prison for carrying out the 2017 execution-style killing of a fellow gang member who had fallen out with an imprisoned Mexican Mafia leader, federal prosecutors announced.

According to evidence presented at trial, the victim, a member of a Costa Mesa street gang, trafficked drugs and collected “taxes” from Orange County gangs on behalf of imprisoned Mexican Mafia member Johnny Martinez, also known as “Crow.”
