A late-night vandalism spree at Belmont Park was cut short early yesterday morning after a vigilant resident reported suspicious activity. The Orange Police Department’s graveyard patrol officers responded to the scene and discovered that several areas of the local park had been defaced with spray paint.
Officers quickly detained a group consisting of two adults and two juveniles who were lingering in the park after hours.
During the initial investigation, officers found one juvenile with fresh spray paint on his hands that matched the newly applied park vandalism, along with a marker pen. A nearby discarded spray can was also recovered. Furthermore, a search revealed that the group was in possession of a nitrous oxide tank, and one of the juveniles possessed an AR-style rifle magazine and multiple spent shell casings.
