South Los Angeles was rattled Thursday when a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck near the city of Compton and along the threatening Newport-Inglewood Fault.
The earthquake occurred about 1:32 p.m. about 2 miles south-southeast of Compton, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
