Fountain Valley Police Catch Elder Scam Suspect and Recover Over $54,000 in Cash

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA — Fountain Valley Police Department officers arrested a fraud suspect and recovered more than $54,000 in cash after intercepting an ongoing elder scam targeting victims across the country.

The investigation began last week when an elderly Connecticut resident contacted the Fountain Valley Police Department after realizing he had fallen victim to a scam. Scammers had manipulated the victim into mailing more than $8,600 in cash to an address in Fountain Valley. The victim informed officers that delivery tracking indicated the package had arrived just minutes earlier.
