A routine traffic stop on Interstate 5 in Lake Forest turned into a major narcotics investigation after Orange County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly discovered 21 kilograms of suspected cocaine and a large amount of cash inside a vehicle.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Lake Forest Police Services, deputies assigned to the Special Enforcement Team (SET) stopped a vehicle over the weekend for multiple vehicle code violations. During the stop, deputies reportedly became suspicious when the driver appeared unusually nervous. Based on their observations, they requested assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.
