Suspected burglar, 18, arrested after he tries to hide from officers in California strawberry field

Last week, patrol officers from the Irvine Police Department apprehended a suspect involved in a burglary in the strawberry fields near Jeffrey and Barranca, investigators announced Thursday.

The incident unfolded on Friday when a man broke into a building located within the strawberry fields. Upon receiving the report, officers quickly responded to the scene, only to find the suspect attempting to flee into the vast expanse of strawberry plants.

Undeterred, Irvine officers pursued the suspect through the fields, swiftly apprehending him.

The 18-year-old Irvine resident was subsequently booked at Orange County Jail on a variety of charges, including burglary.

The Irvine Police Department expressed gratitude to Irvine Valley College Police for their assistance in the apprehension of the suspect.

As the investigation continues, the Irvine Police Department encourages anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
