Two Poly High School students were arrested Thursday for bringing weapons to campus, the Long Beach Unified School District said this afternoon.
One student had a BB gun while another had a knife, according to an email sent to parents by Principal William Salas just after 3:30 p.m. Both weapons were “immediately recovered by Poly staff,” he said.
“This incident is a reminder to speak to your child about the importance of making positive choices and that their actions and words have consequences,” Salas wrote, adding: “If you see something, say something.”
Both students were arrested by Long Beach police, according to Salas.
The Long Beach Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for more information regarding the incident.
“The safety and well-being of students remain our top priority,” an LBUSD spokesperson said in an email to the Post. “All incidents are thoroughly investigated as soon as they are reported. While student matters are confidential, Long Beach Unified takes all safety concerns seriously and emphasizes our commitment to fostering a safe, secure and positive learning environment for all.”
