The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and the City of Commerce will hold a food giveaway for low-income residents in the parking lot of the Commerce Public Library at 5655 Jillson Street on February 15 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Packages of dry food can be picked up at either a drive-through or a walk-up distribution point. Organizers of the event urge the use of the drive-through whenever possible.
This year, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is celebrating its 50th anniversary. To continue its work, the food bank is in need of donations and volunteers. The food bank requires all volunteers to register and fill out waiver forms before showing up to work.
According to the California Association of Food Banks, almost one third of all Californian households with children are experiencing food insecurity.
