Derrick Jones Jr. has 3-year, $30M deal with Clippers, source says

Free agent small forward Derrick Jones Jr . has agreed on a three-year, $30 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers , a source told ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk, confirming multiple reports.

Jones, 27, played a key role in the Mavericks’ run to the NBA Finals this past season, starting all 29 postseason games for Dallas.

Jones is a strong perimeter defender and athletic finisher, throwing down 23 dunks in the postseason alone. He was a linchpin for Dallas’ defense in the playoffs, routinely taking on the most difficult perimeter assignments. While Jones is an inconsistent 3-point shooter, his hot streaks in the playoffs — particularly from the corners — helped buoy the Mavs’ postseason offense.

Jones signed a one-year, $2 million deal with Dallas last summer after spending two seasons with the Bulls.
