L.A. police chase suspect in stolen children’s hospital van

A suspect who stole a van from a children’s hospital was arrested after leading police on a wild chase through Los Angeles Tuesday night.

The male suspect was seen driving erratically on freeway and surface streets, at times traveling on the wrong side of the road and narrowly missing many nearby vehicles and pedestrians.

The suspect ignored street light commands, squeezed through congested roads and weaved dangerously through traffic.

LAPD officers continued following closely behind as the driver sped away recklessly. It’s possible the driver may have been armed.

The chase began in the North Hollywood area at around 7:21 p.m. before the suspect pulled over in Panorama City about an hour later. That’s when he quickly hopped out of the van, ran across the road and into the garden center of a Home Depot store.

Police quickly surrounded the parking lot and ran into the store as Home Depot employees were seen pointing in the direction the suspect fled.

The suspect, who was initially seen wearing a yellow sweater, appeared to have taken off some clothing in an attempt to blend in with shoppers.
