Angel Reese Silences Doubters With Crazy Stat in Sky vs. Sparks

The Chicago Sky gave their playoff hopes a shot in the arm Friday night, as they took down the Los Angeles Sparks at home, 92-78.

Sky rookie Angel Reese was at the forefront of her team’s attack against Los Angeles. The former LSU Tigers star put up another double-double, scoring 24 points on an efficient 9-for-15 shooting from the field, while pulling down 12 rebounds. Such performances have become usual for Reese, who is now third all-time in WNBA history in terms of games with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and a 60 percent or better shooting percentage from the floor, according to StatMamba.

Ahead of Reese on the list are two former WNBA Most Valuable Player winners in Yolanda Griffith and Candace Parker. With six more games remaining on the Sky’s schedule and given the rate with which Reese is gobbling up double-doubles in her first year in the pros, there is a good chance that she will be able to surpass both Griffith and Parker.

Reese made a living around the rim on offense, but she also drained a 3-pointer to further silence his critics. Although she isn’t shooting well overall this season, with just a 45.6 true shooting percentage and 38.6 effective field goal percentage, Friday’s game showed that Reese is very much capable of taking over when she’s at her sweet spots on the floor.
