One person has died and five others were rescued after a boat capsized in waters off Redondo Beach Sunday, authorities confirmed to KTLA.
Crews with the Los Angeles County and Redondo Beach fire departments responded to reports of the capsized vessel about two miles out from Avenue C in Redondo Beach just before 1:30 p.m.
According to multiple reports, rescuers found five people clinging to the overturned boat and were able to get them back to shore at around 2:30 p.m.
The condition of the survivors was not immediately available.
Details are extremely limited at this time and it’s unclear what exactly caused the vessel to capsize, but officials said divers located a sixth person who had gotten trapped in the boat who did not survive.
