JuJu Watkins is hitting the small screen in a different way than we’re used to seeing her. First reported on and announced by The Hollywood Reporter , Watkins is starring in and co-producing her very own sports docuseries for NBC and Peacock.
From Klutch Sports , Uninterrupted and 4.4.Forty, “On the Rise: JuJu Watkins” follows Watkins chronicle the period of her high school days to her freshman year of college, making this the very first time a college athlete has produced a docuseries about their own life while still playing in the NCAA. In an exclusive interview with THR, Watkins told the publication, “This series will “give people more insight into who I am, my values and my story, because I take so much pride in it.
Meanwhile, Uninterrupted producer Jamal Henderson added, “The Olympics probably do this the best, right? You get these amazing, heartwarming packages, and now the stakes are so high when you’re watching that bobsledder. Now imagine if Caitlin [Clark] had this before when we were watching those Iowa games. I think this is the new, innovative model in storytelling, and that’s why we’re really excited to be a part of it.”
