Caltrans will implement a 55-hour weekend lane closure on the southbound 605 Freeway between Downey and Norwalk, starting Friday evening and lasting through early Monday. This marks the fourth extended closure for roadway upgrades as part of the “Super 605 Freeway Corridor Improvement Project.”
Full southbound closures are set for Friday and Sunday nights, while lane reductions will occur during the day Saturday and Sunday. Key connectors, including those from the 5 Freeway, and ramps at Florence Avenue and Telegraph Road, will also close.
Drivers are advised to use detours via local roads or alternate freeways, such as the 710, 110, and SR-57.
The $260 million project is funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Senate Bill 1, with 14 additional closures planned into 2025.
