An investigation is underway after a woman was fatally struck by a bus in Long Beach on Tuesday night.
According to a media release from the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to Shoreline Drive and 7 th Street around 6:55 p.m. on reports of a traffic collision.
Upon arriving at the scene, the officers found that Long Beach Fire Department personnel had already arrived and were providing aid to the victim.
Despite their lifesaving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

“The preliminary investigation revealed a Long Beach Transit bus was traveling northbound on Shoreline Drive south of 7 th Street when it collided with the pedestrian who was in the roadway, outside of a crosswalk,” LBPD stated.
The bus driver immediately reported the collision, and Long Beach Transit is assisting with the investigation.
Speed, distracted driving and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.
