Southern California police shoot, kill alleged DUI driver on Thanksgiving Day

Police officers in Brea shot and killed an alleged DUI driver on Thursday afternoon, authorities say.

According to the Brea Police Department, officers were notified of a possible DUI driver in the area of Lambert Road and the 57 Freeway just before 4:45 p.m.

Responding officers found a vehicle “up against a retaining wall” in the westbound lanes of Lambert east of the freeway, authorities stated.

“Officers made contact with the driver [and] a short time later, an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Brea police said in a media release posted to social media . “The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.”
