Irish pub in Orange County asks for stolen sign back, no questions asked

The owner of a restaurant and Irish pub, a longtime staple in Orange County, is asking for the public’s help after its iconic sign was stolen by thieves.

Bill Madden, owner of Silky Sullivan’s Restaurant & Irish Pub in Fountain Valley for 40 years, said the Nov. 29 heist took place as the sign was being stored with a tarp over it behind the old restaurant when it was stolen.

Madden had the sign removed from its perch above the door while the business makes a move to a new location across the street.

“It doesn’t make any sense to me because what are they going to do with it,” he told KTLA. “’Oh, I got Silky’s sign in my backyard.’ If anyone sees it, they’ll go, ‘They’re looking for that sign. They want that sign.’”

To make an aggravating situation a little more frustrating, the old location where the sign was stolen is directly across the street from the Fountain Valley Police Department.
