Long Beach will finally emerge from Los Angeles’ Hollywood shadow in 2025.
The City of Long Beach is the setting and the Long Beach Police Department is featured in On Call, a new fictional police drama series that is being streamed internationally on Amazon Prime Video.
The first season’s eight 30-minute episodes debut on January 9, 2025, on Prime Video. The half-hour episodes mean the whole first season can be binge-watched in just four hours.

While the show’s stories and personnel are fictionalized, for better or worse the series will be a first impression introduction of Long Beach to millions of Prime Video watchers around the world.
Hollywood entertainment news insider Deadline reports that the series will have some political overtones noting that the fictional police cast “will navigate the loss of a fellow officer and politics of modern day policing — in the department and on the streets of Long Beach”
Set and filmed in Long Beach, the series follows a fictional veteran Long Beach Police Officer Traci Harmon, and her rookie partner Officer Alex Diaz respond to police calls and patrol incidents.
