A 63-year-old man died from his injuries after he was struck by multiple vehicles in Orange County, police announced Saturday.
The Santa Ana Police Department said it received multiple calls regarding the crash near 1st Street and Center Street around 5:57 p.m. on Friday.
Officers, along with Orange County fire personnel, responded to the scene and found that a pedestrian had been hit by two vehicles. Police later identified the pedestrian as 63-year-old George Estrada Tellez of Costa Mesa.
First responders treated Tellez at the scene before fire crews transported him to a local hospital where, despite life-saving efforts, officials said the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Although the latest information from the Santa Ana PD said that only two vehicles were involved, the department’s initial report said three vehicles hit Tellez and that one of them fled the area.
However, in the department’s most recent press release, officials only said that there were two vehicles involved in the crash, and both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
