LAGUNA NIGUEL, California ( MyCaliforniaNews.com ) — Orange County Fire Authority Fire Apparatus Engineer Kevin Skinner tragically lost his life while responding to a residential fire early this morning. The incident occurred at 4:56 a.m. in the 29400 block of Pointe Royale, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.While conducting a search for residents, Skinner reported feeling unwell and was escorted outside to a waiting paramedic unit. Shortly after, he collapsed, and despite the efforts of medical personnel, he did not survive, stated the Orange County Fire Authority.Skinner, who served the department with distinction for over 25 years, joined the Orange County Fire Authority in July 1999 after serving honorably in the United States Navy. He was known for his warm personality and ability to make everyone feel welcome.He is survived by his wife and three children. “Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him during this incredibly difficult time,” the Orange County Fire Authority expressed. The department also expressed gratitude for Skinner’s dedication to protecting the community and vowed never to forget his sacrifice.
