Beach Streets to welcome pedestrians and bicyclists to the west side

The City of Long Beach, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), will close the streets of West Long Beach to vehicles and open them to the community on Saturday, May 10.

Beach Streets is an annual event that temporarily closes designated streets to vehicular traffic, allowing residents to bike, walk and explore the area.

“Beach Streets is not just about bringing us all together to promote sustainable and healthy living — it’s about uplifting our beautiful neighborhoods and celebrating our diverse and vibrant community,” Mayor Rex Richardson said in a public statement. “This year, we are especially proud to align the event with our Westside Promise Initiative and to showcase our unwavering commitment to supporting and improving the quality of life for residents in West Long Beach.”…
