Dead whale washes up on Ventura beach; several others found dead in LA, Orange counties

A young humpback whale recently washed up on a Ventura beach, one of several found dead during a severe domoic acid outbreak along the California coast.

A team that included the Channel Islands Cetacean Research Unit and Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute examined the juvenile female on April 24, the day after the whale was first spotted near Surfers Point.
