Electric scooter rider killed when driver runs red light, Long Beach police say

Long Beach police say a man died in the hospital this week, several days after he was hit by a car while riding an electric scooter near Jordan High School.

The crash happened at about 9:40 a.m. on April 29, according to the Long Beach Police Department. That’s when a 19-year-old in a 2019 Honda Accord was headed northbound on Atlantic Avenue toward Artesia Boulevard, they said.

“The driver failed to stop for a red light and collided with the scooter operator who was in a marked crosswalk,” police said…
