LOS ANGELES — A Tustin resident was sentenced Monday to 17½ years in federal prison for leading a global methamphetamine trafficking operation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.
Hoang Xuan Le, 43, a.k.a. “Big Bro,” shipped hundreds of pounds of meth hidden in food containers and metal boxes to Australia and Papua New Guinea from locations in Orange County, including Tustin and Garden Grove. Le was fined $50,000 and sentenced by Judge R. Gary Klausner.
His co-conspirator, Tri Buinguyen, 40, of Garden Grove, was sentenced to 15 years in February.…
