Co-founder of Polly’s Pies Harvey Edward “Eddie” Sheldrake passed away on May 8 at the age of 98.
Sheldrake founded the diner and bakery concept with his brother Don Sheldrake in 1968 and opened the first Polly’s restaurant in Fullerton. It currently counts 13 locations to its name, including seven spots in Orange County.
“An LA native, Eddie had a passion for people, food and family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy before attending UCLA, where he became a standout basketball player,” according to a statement from the Placentia-based company. “In recognition of his achievements on the court, he was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000.”…
