Huntington Beach cracking down on illegal street vending at beach and surrounding areas

Huntington Beach officials said they will be cracking down on illegal street and sidewalk vending at the beach and surrounding areas.

“Vending is prohibited on the beach, pier plaza, pier, beach parking lot, and beach service road, even with a sidewalk vendor permit,” city officials said. “Unpermitted vending, whether cut fruit, shaved ice, beach chairs, or anything else, is prohibited.”

Other prohibited locations also include Dog Beach, lifeguard facilities, along Pacific Coast Highway and in downtown Huntington Beach.

Starting June, Code Enforcement officers will proactively patrol the beach and nearby areas in search of vending violations. Street vending doesn’t just involve selling food, but also the sale or rent of any service to the public, as well as merchandise, the city said…
