On May 2, all students attending Orange Coast College received an email regarding changes that could potentially affect their academic plans and financial aid. The biggest change that the email detailed was how students, starting in Fall 2025, would expect their federal financial aid to only cover courses that are required for their program, graduation, or transfer credits.
This new change is being referred to as the Course Program of Study (CPOS) and is a federal regulation.
After the email announcement, the Coast Community College District (CCCD) Board of Trustees held their bi-monthly meeting on May 7, where the room reached maximum capacity by being filled with concerned students, administrators, and professors.
