A 49-year-old Bell Gardens man faced a preliminary hearing on June 11, charged with murder for allegedly killing a 69-year-old during a fistfight in a West Hollywood parking lot last August.
Ramon Casas could face life in prison if convicted. He’s been detained since the Aug. 6, 2024, incident outside the 7-Eleven at 7950 Santa Monica Blvd. Authorities said Casas and Armando Cerqueda Gabriel had a minor vehicle collision, sparking an argument. The dispute turned physical, and Casas allegedly struck Gabriel, knocking him unconscious. Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics responded, but Gabriel was pronounced dead at a hospital.
