15-Year-Old Carlos Tragically Killed in Long Beach Collision; Family Seeks Support Through GoFundMe

Long Beach, CA – June 13, 2025 — A tragic collision on Wednesday afternoon has claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy who was waiting at a bus stop in Long Beach. The incident occurred around 2:56 p.m. on June 11, at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, a 2010 Infiniti G37 was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it failed to stop at a red light. The Infiniti collided with a 2010 Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue with a green light. The impact of the crash caused the Infiniti to skid, overturn, and veer onto the northwest sidewalk, where it struck the young pedestrian who was seated at the bus stop.

The Long Beach Fire Department responded swiftly, providing aid and transporting the teen to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

The pedestrian has been identified as Carlos, a 15-year-old student at Lakewood High School. The heartbreaking incident occurred just days before the end of the school year, with summer break just around the corner.

The driver of the Toyota Prius, a 32-year-old Lakewood resident, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The driver of the Infiniti was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Investigators believe speed played a role in the collision.
